Today we speak to Andy Lyons, editor of football magazine When Saturday Comes. Andy co-founded the magazine in 1986 and acts as both a writer and editor. When Saturday Comes describes itself as ‘providing a voice’ for football fans with articles that give both a serious and humorous perspective on the beautiful game.

It features independent photography, cartoons, and regular items like ‘Shirt Stories’, which tell the story of memorable football shirts, and reports on current trends in football. It provides a platform for up and coming football writers to be published.

Here, Andy gives us his tips for a successful pitch, the most common mistakes to avoid, and any advice he would give to anyone who wants to write for When Saturday Comes.
