Sometimes it feels impossible to understand what commissioning editors are looking for in a pitch and how they want our ideas structured to fit their criteria. So, we spoke with Gareth Davies, Editor of The Bureau of Investigative Journalism’s Bureau Local Project, to learn more about pitching investigations.

Starting his career as a trainee reporter at the Croydon Advertisers in 2008, Davies has almost 20 years of experience working in journalism, winning ten awards spanning his career. He joined The Bureau of Investigative Journalism’s Bureau Local team in 2017 as a senior reporter before being appointed editor in 2023.
