The Freelance Journalism Awards are back everyone! After last year’s success, we are very excited to be opening the second year of the ONLY awards celebrating the work of freelance journalists based in the UK.
The deadline for entries is midnight on Wednesday 22nd May. Entry is FREE. Once all of the entries are received they will be shortlisted and then just as last year a winner will be decided by a panel of industry judges (all freelance journalists / editors of course).
The winners will be announced via this newsletter and our social media channels on Wednesday 3rd July.
There are nine categories this year and you can enter as many as you like. However you can only enter each category once. For example you can only enter one story into the Best News Story category.
Please read the criteria for each category carefully as they do vary a little. The awards are open to anyone based in the UK (your main residence needs to be here) but you can freelance for overseas media outlets.
There will be a £100 prize for each category winner (plus a goody bag) as well as a trophy and an invitation onto our podcast for a special awards series.
Watch out for more details about the judges, shortlisted entries and sponsors in future newsletters.
The aim of these awards is to shine a spotlight on the high quality work being produced by print and broadcast freelance journalists working hard behind the scenes in the UK so come and show us what you’ve got!
A big thanks to Cision, our headline sponsor for the awards. We’re very grateful for their ongoing support which means we can keep celebrating the amazing things you are all doing. Read on to find out about the categories.
