π Freelance Journalism Awards: Entries Open!
How to enter the UK's first awards scheme celebrating freelance journalists
The inaugural Freelance Journalism Awards 2023 are now open! We are very excited to be launching the first awards scheme to celebrate the work of freelance journalists based in the UK.
The deadline for entries is midnight April 26th. Once all of the entries are received they will be shortlisted and then a winner will be decided by a panel of industry judges (all freelance journalists / editors of course).
The winners will be announced via this newsletter and our social media channels on June 7th.
There are seven categories altogether and you can enter as many as you like. However you can only enter each category once. For example you can only enter one story into the Best News Story category.
Please read the criteria for each category carefully as they do vary a little. The awards are open to anyone based in the UK (your main residence needs to be here) but you can freelance for overseas media outlets.
There will be a Β£100 prize for each category winner (plus a goody bag) as well as a trophy and an invitation onto our podcast for a special awards series.
We will be sharing more details about the judges, shortlisted entries and sponsors in future newsletters.
The aim of these awards is to shine a spotlight on the high quality work being produced by print and broadcast freelance journalists working hard behind the scenes in the UK.
