This week in our Premium newsletter we have another episode of our ‘Peek at my Week’ series where we poke around inside a freelance journalist’s diary.

For this one we chat to James Banyard, an early stage freelance journalist specialising in arts and culture, especially from a sustainability perspective. James writes for the People’s Republic of South Devon, Van Classical Music, Theatre Royal Plymouth, Plymouth Arts Cinema, and has recently landed his first commission with the Guardian.

James is also the founder of Pitch Fail Club, a Substack for freelancers that prints real failed pitches with real editor feedback. As well as being a journalist, he works as a simulated patient, does stand up comedy, and is a city councillor.
