While it may seem like things have been quiet on the Freelancing for Journalists podcast we have been working hard behind the scenes on developing series 3 and meeting potential sponsors.
Over the past few weeks we have developed some great new collaborations and ideas for ways to support career development for student journalists during the pandemic.
We’ve also spent some time working on new projects and resources for our FFJ community.
And we have created this lovely free weekly newsletter keeping you up to date on upcoming podcast topics, some key resources and FFJ top tips.
We are planning some more webinars and have asked our community for what they would find most helpful.
Next week we start our four-week online course on How to become a successful freelance journalist. We run the course with Journalism.co.uk three times a year and we’ve had some lovely feedback from students who have got commissions after working on pitches with us. It can all be done in your own time and covers where to find work, how to generate and develop story ideas, pitching, negotiating fair rates of pay and how to promote yourself and your work. There’s still a couple of places left if you’re quick!
Our new podcast series will launch sometime in November (fingers crossed) and watch out for further announcements on that in the newsletter.
We are also planning a new Listener’s Dilemma segment in the podcast (we need a fun jingle if anyone has any ideas) so if you have any freelance problems or conundrums you would like us to tackle you can email us at freelancingforjournalists@gmail.com or message us through the FFJ Facebook community or on our Twitter @freelancingfor. You can also find out more about us and our Freelancing for Journalists book by heading to our website.
We look forward to telling you more about what’s coming up but in the meantime you can listen to all our previous episodes here.
Bye for now!
